Be a part of the Caring Culture

When the COVID-19 crisis first began, Calgary Seniors was quick to respond and support seniors in our community who were in need and had no one to help them. We modified our volunteer programs, loosened eligibility requirements, and fast tracked our volunteer intake.

As life begins to return to a new normal for many of us, our work continues to evolve as we respond to the growing number of seniors requesting help. Calgary Seniors offers our programs and services to low-income seniors free of charge; therefore fundraising is crucial to our operations. Our clients have no one else and often have few or no options. That is where Calgary Seniors comes in.

By Adopting a Grandparent, you will be helping to provide:

Essential Transportation: Volunteers provide seniors with mobility challenges or no other options with arm-in-arm rides to essential medical and other appointments.

Friendly Check-In: Volunteers provide regular social support via telephone to isolated seniors.

Volunteer Drop Offs:  Volunteers drop off groceries, toiletries, and medications to the homes of vulnerable and/or low-income seniors who cannot get out for whatever reason.

Pet Assist: Volunteers assist seniors with their pet care needs, enabling the pet and senior to stay together for as long as possible.

Practical Kindness: Volunteers help seniors with urgent one-time assistance intended to provide practical, emotional, and social support.

There are several ways to Adopt a Grandparent:

Calgary Seniors is currently in need of Escorted Transportation Drivers.

Your donations provide the caring volunteers who help seniors with the little things that really make a big difference.

Looking for a special holiday gift? Adopt a Grandparent in honour of a friend/family member as your gift and they will receive a special story about how your donation provided hope.

We use donated gift cards year-round. Gift cards make a huge difference for a senior who is trying to decide between medication and food.
